One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at the Oberwiesen and was completely thrilled. Everything was perfect, from the room to the spa area. But what surprised me most was the breakfast. Regional products, handmade and incredibly delicious. Definitely the best value for money of any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We’ll definitely be back.

This is the Oberwiesen
Anyone who steps into the Oberwiesen feels it right away: there’s a family behind it, not an anonymous hotel business. Georg and Pauline run their house with heart and down-to-earth values – personal, sustainable, and with a history that began long before them.
Few frills, plenty of heart
Modern, clean-lined and free of frills: that’s the style at the Oberwiesen. Earthy tones of beige, brown and anthracite meet plenty of wood and a touch of Oberwiesen green. Simple, yet high-quality.
The entrance hall connects our two hotel wings and is at the same time our living room for everyone: with cosy seating areas, a small library and a large TV for sports fans. This is also where you’ll find our Honesty Bar. Right next door is part of our breakfast room, which you can use for working during the day and for a light bite or dinner in the evening.
For families there’s also a shared lounge, a playroom for little ones up to age 8, and a teen room with PlayStation, darts, table football and table tennis.
Hosts with heart
Georg can almost always be found in or around the house – except perhaps when AS Roma are playing, a team he supports with a passion. Whether it’s check-in, a quick question, or something that needs sorting out: he takes care of it himself.
Georg and Pauline care deeply about a high-quality breakfast with local products. Pauline loves bringing in her own creations here, from Bircher muesli to banana bread and cakes, and personally looks after you and your wishes during breakfast. As a qualified yoga teacher, she also regularly offers yoga classes.
The two of them are happiest out and about with their children Raphael and Sophia in the South Tyrolean mountains – especially on Sunday afternoons, which is family day with us. Afterwards, they like to round off the day with good food and a glass of wine.
Our kind of hospitality
For us, quality matters more than quantity – in the way the house is designed, at breakfast, and in how we treat you. We don’t run the Oberwiesen like a classic hotel, but more like an apartment-style residence: personal, uncomplicated and built on trust. We’re not always sitting at the servicepoint, but we’re always available – via WhatsApp, or simply because we’re out and about in the house or garden anyway. That’s why we rely on self check-in: not a replacement for a personal welcome, but extra freedom for you.
Georg grew up here, and many guests have known him since he was little. For Pauline, becoming a host was more chance than plan. Today she loves creating little moments of joy for her guests and giving them a good tip for the day.
What matters to us
The commitment to sustainability is part of everyday life for us: most of our products come from South Tyrol, three quarters from Italy. We favour glass over plastic and avoid single-use packaging wherever possible for shampoo, soap and the like. A good part of our building runs on electricity from our own photovoltaic system, and we’ve also switched our vehicles to electric drive: we’ve been driving electric vehicles ourselves for five years, and we’re one of the first businesses in the area to have an electric yard loader. Plants already grow on a large part of our roofs. This creates a natural climate for the rooms, as well as a home and a food source for many wild bees.
A history you can feel
Long before the Oberwiesen stood here, there was a farm on this spot. In 1964, Georg’s grandfather Peter Aichner converted the Oberwieserhof into a small bed-and-breakfast – and as a co-founder even acted as guarantor for the Plan de Corones cable car. Georg’s parents, Hildegard and Lorenz Aichner, then ran the Garni Oberwieserhof for 30 years: Lorenz looked after the farm, Hildegard the guests. In the early 1980s there was a major renovation, followed over the years by smaller changes.
In 2015, Georg returned to Riscone and quickly took on a great deal of responsibility. After a small refurbishment of the breakfast room, 2017 brought the big renovation that created today’s B&B – Rooms & Apartment Oberwiesen. That same year, Georg also met Pauline. 2019 saw their first joint renovation, and the property has been continually renewed and improved ever since – in 2026, the next major modernisation is planned, giving some of our rooms and apartments a fresh new look.
Architecturally, nothing remains today of the old farm. What has stayed, however, are the many regular guests who have remained loyal over the years – and with some of them, we have truly grown together.
