One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at the Oberwiesen and was completely thrilled. Everything was perfect, from the room to the spa area. But what surprised me most was the breakfast. Regional products, handmade and incredibly delicious. Definitely the best value for money of any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. We’ll definitely be back.

An active summer in Riscone
Whether cycling and hiking in the Dolomites or simply enjoying nature: summer at the Oberwiesen is made for being outdoors.
Step by step through the Dolomites
Hiking in Val Pusteria is wonderfully varied: from easy strolls to challenging mountain treks, there’s something for everyone. With the Kronplatz Guest Pass, you also travel free on bus and train across South Tyrol – handy if the starting point of your next hike happens to be somewhere else.
Our hiking tips
Georg and Pauline are often asked about their favourite hikes. “We love sending people up to the Gönner Alm or the Lercher Alm, if only because they’re both just around the corner from us. Anyone willing to take a somewhat longer drive for truly spectacular views will find it on the Fornella at Passo delle Erbe – and the way there is easy enough even with kids.” Other insider tips from the two of them: the Ütia Ciampcios near Medalges, a sunrise hike up to the Strudelkopf (suitable for beginners too), or a sunset on the Gran Cir (for experienced hikers only).
You can rent hiking poles and backpacks 650 metres from the hotel at the bike rental. Guided hikes are also available at a discount through the KronAktiv programme.
Out and about on two wheels
The choice is just as varied when it comes to biking: relaxed routes through nature, plus the bike park on Plan de Corones with 18 trails for every skill level. The well-known Herrensteig trail runs a full 8 kilometres and 1,300 metres of descent from the summit right down to the valley station in Riscone – so if you like, you can make it right to our door without pedalling once.
Popular cycling destinations include Lake Tares in Valle Aurina, the Riva Waterfalls (with a stop at the Goasroscht for homemade cake and ice cream made from their own goat’s milk), Lake Dobbiaco or Lake Anterselva, or the long cycle path running the length of Val Pusteria all the way to Lienz.
Everything for your bike
In summer, our ski room becomes a video-secured bike room, which you can access simply with your room key. Outside you’ll find a charging station for e-bikes, a hose for cleaning, and a small repair kit. You can rent bikes at the Plan de Corones valley station, with a 10% discount through the Kronplatz Guest Pass.

- At Lake Issengo you can climb in the high-ropes course and then cool off in the natural bathing lake – great with children too.
- For swimming, we recommend the Cron4 in Riscone or the outdoor pool in Valdaora.
- Anyone who wants to fly can take off by paraglider from Plan de Corones and enjoy the view across the whole area.
- Up on Plan de Corones, the giant swing also awaits thrill-seekers.
